Die Welle Köln, Germany
This project focuses on the underground garage structure of the Die Welle development located in Köln, Germany. The garage forms the structural base supporting the buildings constructed above it.
The structure is positioned beneath one section of the residential complex and follows a complex geometric footprint. It is divided into two structural zones, BA3 and BA2, aligned with the building sections above. Zone BA3 includes elevation changes and a long ramp connecting two structural levels.
The modeling and detailing were carried out in Allplan.
Scope of work:
- Complete reinforcement detailing for the underground garage structure. The work covered isolated footings, strip foundations, foundation slab, crane foundation zones, columns, monolithic walls, reinforcement for precast wall console zones, beams, and the garage slab.
- The vertical structural system consists mainly of reinforced concrete columns with typical dimensions of 30 × 60 cm, together with local monolithic walls and precast reinforced concrete perimeter walls. The column grid generally follows a 6 × 6 meter layout, providing efficient spans while maintaining open parking functionality.
- In several locations, paired columns (pilons) were introduced where two beams converge above, creating concentrated load zones that required careful reinforcement detailing.
