What is the difference between rebar detailing and rebar design?
Rebar design is performed by a structural engineer who determines how much steel is required and where: bar sizes, spacing, lap lengths, and cover. Rebar detailing translates that design into fabrication-ready bar bending schedules (BBS) and placement drawings used by reinforcement fixers on site. NS Drafter provides detailing services; we work from completed structural design documents.
How quickly can you turn around rebar shop drawings?
Simple slabs and footings are typically completed within 3–5 business days. Full-building reinforcement packages for multi-storey RC frames are generally delivered in 2–5 weeks depending on the number of elements. We provide a fixed delivery schedule after reviewing your structural drawings.
Which standards do you follow for rebar detailing?
We detail to Eurocode 2 (EN 1992) and national annexes, ACI 315 / ACI 318 for North American projects, BS 8666 for bar bending schedules in the UK, and AS 3600 for Australia. We confirm the applicable standard and bar shape code library before starting.
What deliverables are included in a rebar detailing package?
A standard package includes reinforcement placement drawings (plan, section, elevation), bar bending schedules in PDF and XLS format, and a steel quantity summary. IFC rebar models are available on request for BIM-enabled projects.
Can you work from architectural drawings alone, without a full structural design?
No. Rebar detailing requires completed structural engineering calculations and marked-up drawings that specify bar sizes, spacing, and laps. If you only have architectural drawings, you first need a structural engineer to complete the reinforcement design before we can produce detailing outputs.
